Dowel cutter

Useful for any kind of dowel/tube cutting, but this was born when I was wanting to make a clay trimming tool (wheel throwing), which is often cut from trimmed bamboo.

Recommend you use a (soft) clamp and the helper pieces to secure the dowel/tube in place when cutting.

Clay texture roller

Clay texture roller. The pattern tubes are slid onto a retired curtain rail (that is insanely robust).

Clay slip mold box

Experimenting with making a mold box for slip. Partial success (leakage issues!).

Clay bevelling tool

My reverse-engineered version of the ones you can buy online for about 15 quid. Seems to work. Wrapping 0.4mm wire around a screw under the head (without stressing it) was a challenge.

Clay scratcher tool

Has different scratching sizes, and includes a little rule. Has holes of various sizes but printing accurate hole diameters of small sizes is tricksy so maybe of limited usefulness.

Just your regular handle-forming helpers (when making making cup, jugs etc.)

Slip extruder (clay)

An attempt to make slip extruder. Flawed; the slip tends to get down between the plunger and outer case. To be revisited.

The print with the hole

This large Polo print became a fridge-magnet (neodymium magnets).

String/rope bevelled hole maker (helper)

Lib for making smooth (bevelled) holes, ideal for running string/rope into, but also just looks nice.

Design for the pentapus rope spider project, but not actual used in it yet.

Asploder (helper)

This is an OpenSCAD library to help with doing ’exploded’ versions of arbitrary models.

Not currently released, but maybe…

Spool stand (version 3)

After the structural fail of version 1 and the over-engineered version 2, this is a happy thing.

Extra parts:

  • 2 x linear rod (8mm x 200mm)
  • 4 x 608ZZ ball bearing (superglued into PLA holes, to hold rods)
  • Loctite 638 anaerobic retaining compound (to attach rods to bearings)
  • sticky gel feet

The design includes a stand but that part isn’t really necessary and I didn’t use it. I just put some gel feet under the two side parts to increase friction against the desk (stops the spool stand moving).
